Akira "Arky" Hirota, 89, of Stockton, passed away on August 10, 2017 in Stockton, CA. He was born September 19, 1928 in Madison, CA to his parents Yoshizo Imada and Saiki Yutaka. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Yoshikazu Hirota and his sister Yoshiko Hirota. He is survived by his wife May S. Kamibayashi Hirota of 63 years, his daughter Carol S. Hirota, his son Mitchell A. Hirota (Yvonne) and grandchildren Tyler Hirota and Lauren Hirota as well as many nephew, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.

Arky was in Gila River, AZ internment camp during World War II and was a veteran of the US Army. He worked in produce at Country Club Market. He supported Hoover Tyler Little League and coached boys basketball at the Stockton Buddhist Church. Arky was a member of the Nikkei Golf Club and during retirement played golf weekly at Swenson and Van Buskirk. Arky will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend to his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Buddhist Church of Stockton , 2820 Shimizu Drive, Stockton, CA 95203 at 11:00 a.m.
